Today’s Globe and Mail has a story about how ESRI Canada and Solana Networks have teamed up to map the Internet - or at least a good chunk of that sprawling, ever-changing world-wide network. “The GIS system built by ESRI and Solana is able to show how, in the event of a major Internet failure, traffic might be rerouted and even how applications might be affected. That allows network planners to develop failover strategies and to undertake improvements that would minimize the impact of failure.” Let’s see the maps.
