In a recent posting, the issue of Taiwan’s status as a province of China was highlighted. Apparently Google Maps/Local has somewhat resolved the issue by simply removing the left sidebar that told people what they were looking at and had the map fill the page. Taiwan is no longer called a province of China but, simply, Taiwan with no comments about its political status. Read the news story about it.

By the way, Google Maps has such a better ring to it than Google Local, don’t you think?
