In honour of Valentine’s Day, I suppose, the BBC will be hosting a show entitled “UK Love Map”
to be shown on Wednesday the 15th. A look at UK census data reveals some mildly interesting facts about the UK (e.g. Manchester has the highest proportion of singles in the country) but the title is misleading. The topic may be love but the maps are few and far between. The actual program site
offers one “interactive” map
- clicking on an area of the country brings up a textual description of romantic life for that area. Perhaps the television program will be more cartographically rewarding.
