The folks at
Google Labs have, of course, been busy. A number of papers from their work
are available on their website. Most deals with, not surprisingly, searching methods and file systems. One paper, entitled
“Interpreting the Data: Parallel Analysis with Sawzall” refers to a
gif movie that displays the geographical distribution of search requests throughout a particular day.
